Very nicely done, pretty and not overly lacquer so that it looks like an art piece for a glass cabinet! This is the most accurate rifle I have shot. I get groups of .605" that's 5/8" at 100 yards with factory Winchester 150's. Unbelievable. Can't wait to hand load this

Probably the finest production rifle on the market today. Incredible out of the box accuracy. By far the best and safest trigger ever developed. My 270 shoots under an inch at 200 yards.

I'm relatively new to big game hunting and I have been hunting with an inherited Springfield 1903 chambered in 30.06. Because this rifle has tremendous sentimental value to me, I've been reluctant (and never did) to modify the rifle "correctly" to accommodate (drill and tap) a scope. Since I am a very simple man of few words and possess little compunction to enjoy the fruits of my labor or spend out of necessity, I was strongly encouraged by the Mrs. to occasionally acquaint myself with the term "indulgence". So began my quest for the perfect (for me) rifle. I spent nearly four months researching every brand and model, high-end and low-end, and virtually every blog, forum, and review. Simply put, I settled on Savage Arms. In terms of firearms, I value craftsmanship (materials and durability) , accuracy, and tradition that order. Simply put, Savage Arms fit the bill. I finally decided on the Savage 110 GPX3 in 30.06. When submitting my order online, I noticed a banner stating that a Savage 114 American Classic stainless was on "sale". Out of curiosity, I toggled the banner and found that the 114 (valued at nearly $1,000 MSRP) was being sold for $2.00 less than Savage's bread-and-butter 110! Needless to say, I purchased the 114 at nearly 50% off and practically brought the thing home swaddled in blankets. Conclusion: Only you can decide what is best for you. For me, Savage's action and AccuTrigger (didn't need to adjust it at all) are the best I've ever laid my hands on. Accuracy is in the eye of the beholder; I shot 1" groups or better meaning I'm pretty decent for an average rifleman. The 114 encompasses all of the Savage technology, but with the ascetics of a mahogany-colored walnut stock and stainless steel action and barrel. I must have stared at this rifle for hours when I brought it home . . . Ecstasy.

i just bought a model 114 american classic and it is a awesome rifle. it has a great bolt design and a smooth action and holds a great pattern. it is as good as any other bolt action rifle on the market and i can not wait to hunt with it this season.
