Remington 700 Problems

The gun-hunting season is quickly approaching and there are renewed questions regarding the most popular hunting rifle in the world – the Remington 700. Almost 100 lawsuits have been registered with the 700’s firing mechanism, which was first introduced in the 1940s. There are serious allegations that the models caused 24 deaths and injured more than 100 people because of a design flaw.

The police snipers in Portland, Maine videotaped a Remington 700 firing when the officer touched the bolt. A gunsmith and former officer by the name of Jack Belk, affirmed the following: “It's a safety issue that I feel has the potential to really hurt gun owners”. Jack was hired as an expert witness in a few lawsuits against the Remington company.

Many people affirm that Remington knew about this problem a long time ago but they didn’t do anything to fix it. Almost 4 of every 10 bolt action rifles sold in the world are Remington, according to the company.
