Kalashnikov Suffered Over AK-47 Deaths

The creator of the notorious rifle AK-47, who died last month at the age of 94, had sent a letter to the Church in 2012, in which he expressed the pain he had felt as a result of the loss of many human lives, caused by the rifle he designed.

The AK-47 is probably the most popular firearm in the world, and can be easily recognized even by those who do not have any knowledge in the field.

Apparently Mikhail Kalashnikov feared that his rifle would lead to so many deaths, that he himself would be seen as directly responsible for them. Although in the past he tried to put the blame on foreign policy and on the countries which purchased the rifle, two years ago he seemed to change his position.

BBC reports that the letter was hand signed, and headed to the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill.

“The pain in my soul is unbearable. I keep having the same unsolved question: if my rifle claimed people’s lives, then can it be that I… a Christian and an Orthodox believer, was to blame for their deaths?” Kalashnikov asked.

The Church confirmed receiving the letter and gave a comforting reply, claiming that the main purpose of the rifle was to protect the “Fatherland”, purpose which it supports thoroughly.
