Iowa Firearms Coalition Supports Dove HuntingOn March 23rd 2011, the Iowa Firearms Coalition sent out an action alert which asks Iowans to urge support for dove hunting. The gun rights group affirmed that the powerful animal rights group - Humane society, are “more motivated than ever” to defeat a dove hunting bill that the Iowa House voted.
Iowa’s state Senate voted 30-18 to establish a mourning dove hunting season in Iowa. Despite this significant support in the Senate, they recommend that citizens contact the state representative regarding dove hunting in Hawkeye State.
They said that because of the fact that doves are the most popular and abundant game bird hunted in all the United States, there are no biological justifications to continue to deny local citizens to hunt them if this is what they want.
However, HSUS - an anti-hunting extremist organization is working hard at defeating this legislation. Wayne Pacelle, who is the president, said to Associated Press that “if we could end all sport hunting in a moment, we would.”
This organization ($120 million annually) is well aware of the fact that dove hunting in the rest of the US states does more to recruit new hunters to the forests and fields than any other hunting games. ![]() |
