Blaser R8 Exhibited At IWA 2011The new version of the R8 is now available in calibers of up to .416 Remington Magnum. Special orders with a 4-month lead time can be made if you choose .458 Win Mag., .458 Lott and .500 Jeffery. In comparison to the R93, the R8’s magazine and trigger blade are one assembly and you can easily take them out of the weapon, which can remove ammunition from the firearm and can render it incapable of being fired.
The firearm benefits from a 3-position safety and it is not cocked unless the safety is all the way forward. The rearward position locks the action and also prevents the weapon from firing. You can easily change between the available calibers by swapping the barrel and the bolt head.
All of the R8 models benefit from cold hammer forged barrels and the Professional variant features a synthetic stock. This model costs $3,000 and although it might seem a little bit expensive, there were lots of other guns exhibited at IWA 2011 that had a retail price of 30,000 Euros. ![]() |
