Howa/Hogue 20 Heavy Barrel Varminter

The Howa/Hogue 20" Heavy Barrel Varminter has a non-slip, Cobblestone grip that works great regardless of the weather conditions. The pillar bedding uses aluminum bosses for improved accuracy, while the barrel free-floats for increased efficiency on the hunting field. The rifle sports one piece, forged steel receivers with a flat bottom and integral recoil lug for increased strength. It packs a powerful M-16 style extractor for increased reliability. It also has fully adjustable triggers for sear management and weight of pull.

Very well made, and accurate rifle, at a reasonable cost. 3/8" 3-shot groups are no problem with the right handloads. Many people over the years have owned Howa Rifles and probably didn't know it, as they manufactured Rifles for S&W, Browning, Weatherby, etc. Glad to see them use their own name now.

I bought a .308 and it shot under 3/4 inch groups at 200 yds and that was with crap ammo and breaking in the barrel. I'm in the process of working up some hand loads for it now starting with lapua brass and Berger vld bullets...the hogs on our ranch here in Texas should be mighty worried.
