Leupold Rifle Scopes

Leupold & Stevens, Inc. is an American, family-owned, 5th generation company that has been designing, machining, and assembling precision optical instruments and other products for a century. The company was established in 1907 and success has been built on their commitment to their customers’ absolute satisfaction, and their commitment to building the best optics for the shooting sports, general and wildlife observation, and the military and law enforcement communities. In 1907 when the company was created, a young German immigrant named Fred Leupold set up a one-man shop at 5th and Oak Streets in Portland, Oregon, repairing optics for surveying equipment. Leupold & Stevens is still a family owned company, though their focus has turned from surveying to helping people all across the globe survey their environments with the innovative, high-performance sports optics and accessories.

A lot have happened since then as Fred Leupold was joined by his brother-in-law, Adam Voelpel. Later on, an ingenious and prolific inventor and consulting engineer named John Cyprian Stevens became a partner in the Leupold business. The small company survived the First World War and also the Great Depression (1929-1933). But it was the Second World War that would change the company for good. Working with the famous U.S. Army on a rifle scope and the Navy on optics for use aboard ships, the engineers at Leupold learned the secrets of waterproofing and durable construction that would completely change the world of sports optics.

In the present, the Leupold optics are famous for their unchallenged ruggedness, absolute waterproof integrity, and their unmatched superior optical quality. A century of observation and optical experience has gone into every binocular and scope they produce, and they consider the results are well worth the extra effort required to achieve this level of quality that no other company can rival. In the true American style, the philosophical foundation laid in their early years served as a template for the company as they have grown and changed over the last decades. Leupold rifle scopes are built to endure the worst the wilds have to offer, and still make the shot of a lifetime. The rifle scopes are: bright, clear, rugged, waterproof, accurate, dependable and guaranteed for life. The newly presented RX digital laser rangefinder series introduced the world to TBR (True Ballistic Range), which takes the guesswork out of using a rangefinder on steep angles as well as 13 different aiming point options, and other unique features. Another revolutionary product, the VX-L has a unique profile so you can mount a large objective rifle scope significantly lower than a conventional scope, for a more natural, shooting position. Other ground-breaking features include the new proprietary, Second Generation waterproofing technology.

Re: Leupold Rifle Scopes

I'm having what seems to be a real issue with my brand New 3x9x40 VX II Leupold Scope. I sighted my rifle (Sako .308) Saturday with it - shot approximately 25 rounds all on higher power 6x - 9x. When I got home I dialed it down to 3x and looked through it. Two big ugly splotches appeared with what looks like a small yet visible scratch in the lower left. Neither of the external lenses seem to be scratched or damaged (or I did not observe) - it seems to be inside the scope, one of the internal lenses or coatings. It seems to disappear at 5x.

What can I do ?? Thanks.
