Remington ?

Hello, I am looking for a waterfowl shotgun, a Remington as a matter of fact because I find them most efficient and reliable (No, I do not work for them nor do I get payed for advertising  Anyways, is the 870 Waterfowl (XCS) Extreme Condition Shotgun any good. The price is a little bet steep for my budget - around 650$ but if the gun is worth it - I will make an effort! Any other shotguns that you think to be efficient? Thank you for your attention.

Re: Remington ?

I am also a fan of the 870 series..or better yet, say the older 870's models. the ones off the shelf today are pardon my expression, rubbish.

It is a shame that the well-known Remington has to produce a gimmicky gun like that and try to sell it for significantly more than all the other shotgun makers who are just producing a decent quality gun already.

If they would just go back to producing the same decent gun they were making 10 years ago...there would be no need for all that questionable models.

I'd recommend a Benelli Inertia Driven shotguns as it does not operate on the gas principle, or the traditional recoil-operated principle. Their system is totally different, and these guns don't suck up recoil like the gas guns. However, Benelli addressed the problem by going to a sophisticated new stock. Called ComforTech, this stock has 11 chevrons that hold the top of the buttstock to the bottom of the buttstock, and each of these 11 chevrons is a recoil reducer.

Don't know a price but I figure it must be steep.

Re: Remington ?

I have a buddy who used to travel and shoot competitions. He competed with and still has a pricey Barretta autoloader and a cheaper Remington 870 pump.
It all boils down to this...you can spend a lot of money and impress your freinds with pretty stocks and brand names...or you can economise and impress your freinds with your frugalness cause both will put meat on the table...I know this all to well cause my buddy hung his Barretta up and shoots his duct taped, scratched up 870 pump and his family eats just as good as any one else. Makes me laugh when he drags that beat up and taped up thing out of its case every year..I even seen his dog point and snicker a few times....but it all stops when he knocks as many or more birds than any of the rest of us do.
have fun

Can't go wrong with Remington. Very few models were a sales failure.
