Sturm, Ruger & Company, Incorporated is a company that manufactures firearms, better known as just “Ruger”. The company produces semi/full automatic rifles, single-shot rifles, shotguns, single/double action revolvers and bolt-action rifles. The company was founded in 1949 by William B. Since the company started manufacturing they have produced more than 20 million firearms and they now offer hundreds of models for hunting but also self-defense, target shooting and law enforcement.
The Sturm, Ruger & Company manufacturer is a crucial player in the .22 rimfire rifle market thanks to the very popular Ruger 10/22 that gained its popularity for the fact that it is a relatively cheap and good quality rifle. Ruger also plays a major part in the .22 rimfire semiauto pistol market with the very successful Ruger MK II and the Ruger MK III. Just like the Ruger 10/22, the MK II/III comes with tones of after-market accessories to suit the taste of every hunter.
Ruger is a very respected company on the New York Stock Exchange since the 1990 and the popularity of their models is truly remarkable. We will now offer you three of the most famous rifles ever produced by the well-known manufacturer. We will start with what seems to be the best-selling, world-wide model of the Sturm, Ruger & Company manufacturer.

The Ruger 10/22 is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle that is chambered in .22 Long Rifle. The rifle comes equipped with a 5 or 10 round removable rotary magazine that allows it to fit flush with the bottom of the stock. From 1998 to 2006, Ruger manufactured a magnum version that was chambered for the .22 WMR cartridge. The standard Ruger 10/22 has been in production since 1964 and is considered to be the most popular Ruger rifle. The 10/22 now comes in a wide variety of configurations, last year’s catalogue offered 11 configurations, all of them in .22 LR.
The wooden stocks can be found in standard versions, the more expensive configurations offer laminated wood and black synthetic. The standard “Carbine“ version offers a 18 ½ inches barrel while the “Rifle“ configuration comes with a 20 inch barrel. A shorter stock and a 16 1/8 inch barrel can be found in the “Compact Rifle“ configuration. The Ruger 10/22 is very popular among small game hunters that is why this rifle can be improved with lost of after-market modifications.
A very interesting aspect regarding the Ruger 10/22 is that every part of the rifle can be purchased from after-market manufacturers and a buyer can spend many times the original cost of the 10/22 gun buying after-market parts.
