Remington Model 788

The Remington 788 was developed to compete with other more expensive rifles produced by other known manufactures. The major advantages this rifle had was the accuracy and the low price, these two made the rifle one of the most successful rifles ever produced by Remington Arms. The 788 model utilized a single-column detachable magazine that could hold 3 rounds. The rifle’s bolt had 9 lugs in three rows of three lungs each.
Because of the design, the bolt handle lifts only 60 degrees on opening which gives more clearance for scopes compared to the 90 degrees required for the 700 model. This rifle was made in lots of calibers up to the length of the popular 6 mm Remington. The Remington 788 model was discontinued in the 1980s but many hunters still use them on their hunting trips which proves that this rifle is still popular among hunting enthusiasts.

Remington Model 7600

The Remington Model 7600 is a long series of pump-action, center-fire rifles and carbines that are produced by the Remington Arms company. The 7600 model is considered to be the evolution of the 760 model which the company produced starting with 1952 and ending with 1981. After this year, the company introduced this model which is still produced in many variations.
Speaking of variations, here are some of them:
• The Remington Model 7600 - it is the standard version equipped with conventional wood furniture and a 22 inch barrel while the carbine versions have a 18.5 inch barrel.
• The Remington Model 7600 Synthetic - has a black synthetic stock and comes in either a 18.5 inch barrel or a 22 inch barrel.
• The Remington Model 7600 Weathermaster - has a nickel finish and a black synthetic stock.

The rifle has a 10-round magazine that can be removed. The rifle can also come in a magnum version that shoots the .17 HMR or the .22 WMR while the normal version shoots only .22LR. Regarding variations, the 597 model is available in synthetic stocks (standard model) and laminated wood stocks. The barrel length is 20 inches while the receiver has integral 11mm dovetail mounts.
Moving on to the magazine aspect, the 597 model has had at least three generations of magazines, as follows: the first generation were plastic made which caused a great number of feeding problems when loaded with four rounds. In the year 2000 Remington Arms introduced the second generation of magazines that were made from investment cast aluminum alloy but the base cap and the follower were still plastic made. Later on, the third generation was introduced but there were only small differences between this and the previous generation.
